And...We're Back!

After a whirlwind romance, a sweet love story, and a swift move from the NorthEast to the South, I, Cara Linn, am back now and better than ever! To all my loyal followers, friends and clients old and new, I've taken a few months off but look forward to sharing this new year and new season of life and business with you! My prayer for all who read this blog is that 2010 would be full of joy, blessing, and more of God's presence than you've ever experienced. That is what I know to be the secret to living the Sweet Life!

Enjoy our wedding photos Finally! I am posting our wedding cakes you've all been waiting to see. Also, if you're in the AMARILLO area, come to the High Plains Bridal Show on January 10! www.highplainsweddings.com
Cara Linn, Inc. will have a booth and lots of delicious samples. Come see us!

Our Wedding Cake
Shimmery ivory fondant with white handmade gumpaste flowers
The idea behind this cake was chic and simple, because the real star of the show was...

The Groom's Cake!
I surprised James with this Groom's cake that was like none other. I wrote an acronym poem with the letters of his name that tied the whole cake together. It was full of all of his favorite things! Making this cake for him will always be one of my most sweetest memories.

I picked all of my favorite flavors for these cakes.
Three tiers of the wedding cake were "Champagne Chic" with Strawberry Buttercream.
I even created a new flavor that I think will forever "stick" and be a big seller:
"Nutty Pumpkin". It was Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cake paired with
Peanut Butter Buttercream.
Scrumptious!

The Groom's Cake was filled with Red Velvet and Cream Cheese Filling (James' fave!) as well as
"Cara's Chocolate" cake with Nutella Buttercream

And if you've read my book, you'll understand why we chose to serve ice cold
Milk with our Cake!

And of course, we had lots of Sweet Things for all to enjoy

Even Cotton Candy!
We rented a real machine and had it made right in front of our guests

And on their way out, guests treated themselves to a
Cheesecake Lollipop, specialty of Cara Linn, Inc.
They were dipped in white chocolate and coated with Pink Sugar

Glad to be back! Stay tuned for changes coming in the New Year - we hope you'll be a part of all that's happening.

Love, Cara Linn

29 Days!!!

Thanks to everyone for your input and wedding cake ideas!
I have FINALLY finalized my design, using a few ideas from several of the cakes you sent.
I picked different aspects of each cake that I LOVED, and compiled them into one...adding a few of my own touches of course!

Here were my favorite picks that you sent. And SOON I will post my sketch!
Also, i have a surprise Groom's cake designed and planned. My fiance doesn't know about it, so I can't post that, but definitely will after the wedding!!! It's colorful and SO much fun.

We are down to 29 days!!!!! Stay tuned!

#1 - I love the alternating round AND hexagon shaped tiers
#2 - I love the warm ivory color and the elegant height
#7 - I love the beautiful piping and the stitched criss-cross pattern

Which Cake is Your Fave?

#1My wedding cake is still far from being designed, but with your help, we are a little bit closer!
I've had lots of ideas come in, thanks to everyone for sending me your inspirations!
Posted are my TOP TEN...I mean ELEVEN favorites that some of you sent, in no particular order. (You can tell by the ones I've chosen, I'm leaning towards a very tall cake!)

Please look at all the cakes and leave a comment voting for YOUR favorite! The numbers are listed above each cake. (The colors for our Fall wedding will be Ivory, Pink and Silver, so whichever cake we go with, will be designed in those colors.)

Cara's Wedding Cake Challenge

So if you haven't heard, I'M ENGAGED! And already, I've had lots of people ask me,
"ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE YOUR OWN WEDDING CAKE?!?!?!"

The answer is YES!
I wouldn't put the pressure on anyone to try and appease my high cake standards, PLUS, nothing would make me more happy than to give our guests a little something that's a part of who I am.

My sweet, studly fiance James has been assisting me the past few months and is tremendous help when I need him (he's becoming quite good at rolling fondant!), SO we've decided to make it together!

My amazingly, talented sister Crystal is planning our entire wedding, so the cake is really all we have to focus on.

This is where you come in...JAMES AND I NEED YOUR HELP!

As many cakes as I look at every day and as many other weddings I make cakes for, finding the perfect cake that strikes me as my own can be a little challenging.

We would love suggestions, ideas, pictures, anything that you think might inspire us for our cake. The person whose idea we like the most will receive a prize from Cara Linn, Inc.!

We will be posting our "Wedding Cake Process" right here on our blog, so STAY TUNED and PLEASE send us YOUR idea for our cake!

Lots of Love from SweetLand and THANKS for being a part of my blog!

Motorcycle Cake Class!

This was by far the funnest class we've done!
We did something new and challenging - taught everyone how to sculpt a motorcycle cake! These students were from the Cake Meetup Group, so it was lots of fun. See some of their creations below! We definitely plan to hold more of these "out of the box" cake sculpting classes soon, so be sure and keep an eye on our class schedule and sign up for one. We'd love to have you!
