Cakes of the Week!

WEDDING CAKES

This birdcage was made of Gumpaste, painted with Gold luster, and piped with Royal icing.
It wasn't perfect, but for such a complicated structure, I was happy with the way it turned out(and I thought the crookedness of the cage fit nicely with the quirkiness of the cake!)
The pup was a mini model of the Bride's pomeranian named "Rice".
He was actually full of cake inside!
This cake went to a sweet little Italian spot in Queens, Middle Village.
The lilies were also made of gumpaste that I formed and let dry around ice cream sugar cones.
I then painted and dusted each one with Petal Dust.
Ciao Bella!

Kids, Cake, and Jesus!

A few neighborhood kids discovered "SweetLand" recently and since that day, I haven't been able to keep them away!!! They come by to decorate cupcakes, dance in tutus, and learn that God loves them! Chanese, Amanda, and Chelsea singing Every Move I Make in there Marshmallow Microphones

The kids helped me with a cake and learned a little about fondant. But while snacking on and decorating a few cupcakes, they also learned a little about faith! Psalm 37:4 was our scripture for the day, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." They couldn't eat their cupcake until they said it out loud after we practiced it!

It's fun, it's educational and it's teaching kids that God wants them living the Sweet Life!

After that, their little hearts were just full of faith and one of the girls, Amanda, said she had been really sick and allergic to mosquitoes. So I asked the kids if they thought we should pray for Amanda. "Sure!" they said.
So we gathered around her, I taught them that the Bible says we can lay our hands on the sick and the sick recover! This made them excited. So we all gathered around Amanda, laid our hands on her and prayed God would take away her mosquito allergy!

Then of course, everyone else wanted their turn to ask God for something, so we prayed for just about everybody.

They definitely left here with a "SWEET" taste in their mouths and in their little spirits.

Come see us at SweetLand!!! You'll leave with so much more than just good cake. :-)

(By the way, Amanda--above in the red tutu--came back the next week and was so excited to tell me that all her mosquito bites were gone!!!)

"Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to Me...for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.'"

Matthew 19:14
